Speech by Executive Director, Bright Adoboe 

(5th March, 2026 during the commissioning of the Surgical Theatre at Madina Polyclinic, Kekele)

Freedom Aid Ghana is committed to supporting underserved and vulnerable populations through sustainable healthcare and community development initiatives. Since 2009, the organization has implemented 18 health projects, benefiting approximately 500,600 people across Ghana, including today’s surgical theatre. Three of these projects were funded by the Australian Government, strengthening our valued partnership with the Australian High Commission since 2019.

Established in 1974 as a Maternal and Child Health Centre, Madina Polyclinic Kekele has served the community for over five decades. However, access to surgical care remained a significant challenge. Today, the commissioning of this state-of-the-art surgical theatre marks a historic milestone, bringing essential surgical services closer to residents of the La Nkwantanang–Madina Municipality.

The facility will reduce long-distance referrals, ease the financial burden on families, improve timely access to surgical interventions, and relieve pressure on neighbouring hospitals.

We express our profound gratitude to the Australian Government, under the leadership of Her Excellency Berenice Owen-Jones, the Honourable Member of Parliament, Dr Francis-Xavier Sosu, the polyclinic’s management team, project partners, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their invaluable contributions.

As part of our commitment to holistic healthcare, a Daliha Food Product Stand has also been established at the facility, offering FDA-certified, iron-rich products made with Turkey Berries (Abeduru/Kwawunsusua) to support nutritional needs, particularly among pregnant women and individuals requiring support for anaemia. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Daliha Foods supported over 400 pregnant women across several maternity facilities in Ghana and received an Impact Award from AGRA in Kenya.

Today, we celebrate more than a surgical theatre; we celebrate restored hope, improved healthcare access, and lives saved.
